Week 6 EFJ
Hello everyone! back again with me Ulfiyah Kaltsum, . This sixth week was special because it was our last Reading Progress task, and also the final blog we had to write for this course.
This week, we continued the course with something more exciting. We had to visit three types of media institutions: a media office, a TV station, and a radio station. Miss Nopy divided us into mixed groups together with students from Class B, and each group had two coordinators one from Class A and one from Class B. Before the visit, we were required to wear our almamater jacket and make a reservation for the date and day so the institution would know we were coming.
During the visit, the staff welcomed us and provided information about the place. We listened to explanations, conducted short interviews with the guests or workers there, and were given a tour of the building. This visit was important because we needed the photos and videos for our documentary task. After everything was completed, we returned home.
For the final Reading Progress assignment, we read a news story about Prof. Stella Christie being appointed as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, with a due date of September 28. We were also asked to create another personal news story about ourselves. Later, all news stories from every student would be compiled and designed into a “yearbook-style” collection using Canva.
Overall, Week 6 was a great closing experience. Visiting real media institutions helped us see how journalism works behind the scenes, and completing the final assignments made me realize how much progress I’ve made since Week 1. Even though this is the last blog for the course, I’m proud of everything I’ve learned throughout these six weeks.
